SPC - nostalgia

"I feel pretty, oh so pretty. I feel pretty and witty and gay! And I pity, any girl who isn't me today. La la la la la la la la la la."It has been musical month at the Utah theater this month and I've seen "The Wizard of Oz", "My Fair Lady" & "West Side Story". It's been fun to see these musicals on the big screen. Last week was probably my least favorite though. West Side Story is seriously goofy. It's almost hard to watch the two "gangs" in their tight camel toe pants twirling about, singing about their turf and a rumble. However, I still love going to all the old films that are brought to the valley. Next month is John Wayne month and I'm planning on seeing "The Searchers". I'm also hoping that "The Quite Man" is coming but I won't know until I see in on the marquee. Such fun being nostalgic!

Those pictures rock.

And, yes...West Side Story put the gay in gatorade.

(Still loved it.)

Folks! WEST SIDE STORY is not goofy...it's stylized. What did you expect from a musical version of ROMEO AND JULIET? There are also ballet and opera versions of ROMEO AND JULIET by Prokofiev and Gounod respectively, and there's a whole lotta singin' and dancin' goin' on in those, too. Sorry, I'll end the lecture now.

Hey! You had to be there! It was so very real to me growing up in Star Valley Wyoming in the 50's and 60's. I had no idea of gangs and to me it was shocking.
